Ingredients for Gatti Pakodi
- Soaked dals: 1 spoon each Moong dal, Chana dal (soak for an hour)
- Sesame seeds: 2 spoons
- Salt: as per taste
- Curry leaves
- Cumin seeds: 1/2 spoon
- Ginger Green Chilli Paste: 1 spoon
- Maida: 1 cup
- Rice flour: 3 cups
How to prepare Rice
flour:
- Wash and soak rice in enough water for 24 hours. Drain the water completely and spread it as a thin layer on a cotton cloth. Dry it in the shade till it’s almost dry yet slightly moist.
- In a mixer grinder, add the rice and grind it to make a fine powder.
- Sieve (Chalni) the ground rice powder and keep aside the left-over residue rice rava (coarse in texture) in a separate bowl.
- Repeat the same with the rest of the rice in batches and collect the rice rava in the bowl & grind it again till it becomes flour.
- Spread the fine rice flour on a newspaper and allow to dry completely. Store it in an airtight container.
Preparation of Gatti Pakodi
1. In a big mixing bowl add maida, rice
flour, soaked dals, sesame seeds, salt, curry leaves, cumin seeds and ginger
chilli paste and mix well.
2. Add sufficient amount of water to it
and make a dough with it. Add 2-3 spoons of hot oil or butter to it and mix well.

3. For deep fry, take a kadai, pour
required amount of oil for fry and heat it in a medium flame.
4. Now time to prepare gatti pakodis out
of the dough, apply little oil to hands and take the small portion of the dough
and start preparing the gatti pakodi in the same manner shown in the video.
Place all the gatti pakodis on a
plate.

5. Check if the oil got heated by
dropping a pinch of dough in it hot oil, if it floats then the oil is ready for
frying.
6. Drop the first batch of gatti pakodies
one by one in the hot oil and deep fry them till it turns golden brown colour.

7. Flip them occasionally so that gatti
pakodies to fry evenly.

8. Take them on a tissue paper so as to
absorb out the excess oil from the gatti pakodi.
Continue and follow the same process
with the remaining dough of gatti pakodi.

9.Store it in an air tight container.

Serving Ideas of Gatti Pakodi
Gatti pakodi are usually consumed as
snacks and can be preserved for 15-20 day or more.
